If you want to create change in your life, you have to let go of any negative beliefs holding you back. By using the power of positive affirmations, you create personal growth. It’s a mindset that will help you reach your highest potential.
What is a Positive Affirmation?
A positive affirmation is a statement that you believe. When you repeat it often, you can start to make positive changes in your life.
“We can not manifest something into our lives until we truly believe it. Our belief that something IS, is what allows us to match the vibration of what we are trying to attract and therefore make it SO.”

After a thriving career as a stockbroker in Hong Kong and the UK, she turned to spiritual healing to help others.
Here are Niaby’s tips (in her own words) on how to use the power of positive affirmations to create personal growth.
How you can Use Positive Affirmations for Personal Growth
Long ago, the idea of doing affirmations would have made me laugh, cringe, and joke at another’s expense, all at the same time. Now, I live my life by positive affirmations.
We are raised in a world that it is full of negativity and greed. That is full of cannot’s instead of can do’s. That teaches us to compete with others instead of trying to be the best possible versions of ourselves. As this negativity, slowly but surely, leaks into our consciousness, how can we afford not to open our minds to the power of what a positive affirmation can do for us?

Yes, at first, you will feel daft. You will cringe to the very essence of your being, and you will be the brunt of your jokes. Still, slowly, slowly, step by step you will break through the negativity of doing affirmations and find that in doing so, you will soon start to break through the negativity of the conditioning of your entire life.
“I am not going to pretend this is easy – it isn’t!“
Trying to replace a deeply rooted negative thought with a weak and feeble positive thought can be like trying to put a plaster over a burst pipe. This is why I suggest that you start small to begin with. Start by trying to change a negative thought that you don’t have too much resistance to.
Maybe you think that it can be hard to get parked in a certain area of town. Replace that thought with ‘I always find a parking space’ and see what happens.
Of course, it takes more work than just saying it once. You need to continually repeat this affirmation until you, not only start to believe it but through believing it then start to manifest it.
“The first step to allowing us to believe something is to start changing the negative thoughts that stop us from believing it.“
Every time we catch ourselves in a negative thought, we need to try and change that thought to a more positive one. As I said, it is important to start slowly at first as major resistance to a positive thought creates even more negativity. The more negatively we think, feel and believe, the more negatively we create and attract. By trying to change a negative thought that we are not yet ready to change, we start to put even more focus on that negative thought. My suggestion – work up to it.
Make sure that you believe in the power of affirmations before you try to change a deeply rooted negative thought by using a method that you don’t yet believe. The belief is achieved by seeing the results that the positive affirmations have had on our less deeply rooted negative thoughts.

“I like to start by using rhymes.“
Such as ‘a parking space there will always be, a parking space right there for me’. I find that with rhymes, when my mind argues back, I can say ‘hey, I’m just saying a rhyme, same as singing a song, I don’t have to believe the words, it’s just a rhyme’! This helps me to bypass some of the resounding negative arguments that my mind likes to throw back at the positive thought that I am trying to replace it with.
This also leads me to something else. There are many teachings out there that suggest that you should always say “I am’ instead of ‘I will’ as ‘I will’ is in the future and therefore not a strong, positive affirmation of the now. However, I disagree.
I suffered from six years of ill health and a further six years of walking a tightrope to maintain a better quality of life and good health after eventually having to walk away from my 12-year career as a stockbroker. I found that if I tried to say ‘I am healthy’ every sick cell in my body fought back against that statement as I simply could not believe it to be true. But I could train myself to believe that I WOULD/WILL BE healthy in the future and so this is where I started.
Only when I started to believe that I COULD be healthy in the future could I then slowly, slowly, step by step, start to introduce affirmations of ‘I am healthy now’.
“Affirmations are not a “quick fix.”
Affirmations take hard work, perseverance and a willingness to look at one’s negative thoughts and behaviour patterns. Anyone who is selling you a quick fix, unfortunately, is selling you a lie.
The journey into self is a long one, but it is also a deeply rewarding one. It is a journey that allows you to shed all that is no longer serving you and step into the true power of who you are and who you came here to be. It is a journey that allows you to create the life that you want for yourself rather than the life that society deems. It is a journey that allows you to shine your light for all to see.
By taking this first step of using affirmations, you can start to step into your true power by diminishing limiting beliefs that simply do not serve you.
- You can change your way of thinking to start to understand that you can do anything that you set your mind to, as long as it is your positive mind that you set to the task and not your negative one.
- You can change your way of thinking to trust and believe in yourself instead of being full of self-doubt and self-loathing.
- By taking the first step of using affirmations, you are taking the first step towards changing your life for the better.
