Visiting the Channel Islands Harbor
Whenever I’m home, I always visit the Channel Islands Harbor to play, eat and say hello to the sea lions.
There are so many good restaurants with different cuisines, but my all time favorite thing to do here is to spend time by the water. You can kayak, stand up paddle board, or hang out on a boat. If you don’t own a boat or kayak, no problem. Rentals are available at a reasonable price for these water activities.
We rented a Duffy electric boat from Hopper Boat Rentals and after a very brief demonstration, we were on our way.
The boat fits up to 12 people and also comes with a portable speaker so you can have a fun dance party or just sit back and listen to your own music. It only goes up to 5 mph and you’ll also get a map of the Channel Islands Harbor to make navigating easy. You don’t really need any experience to drive so we all took turns.
Sometimes the water may be too high so you’ll have to take a detour to get under the bridge. I recommend going in the evening so you can enjoy that pre-sunset glow.
The Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, California was built in the 1960s and 1970s on 310 acres of land and water. The houses here are the stuff you and I dream about. The lighthouse isn’t operational but still looks beautiful in the background.
Learn to sail, go on a whale watching tour or visit the Channel Islands and above all have fun!
Finally, if being on a boat is not your thing, take a walk or bike ride. There is also a farmer’s market every Sunday, and don’t forget Toppers Pizza also has a great view of the harbor.
Have you been to this harbor? If so, what’s your favorite thing to do? Post a message in the comments or click here to send me an email. I always appreciate your feedback because it helps me grow.
