Mendoza, Argentina

Crossing the border into Argentina was a breeze from Santiago. We arrived at Customs at about 1 am, got our passports stamped, bags checked and we were on our way. The bus dropped us off in Mendoza at 4:30 in the morning, which sucked big time, because we forgot to change our Chilean pesos.

So here we are…sitting at the terminal, with no Argentinian money, no hostel booked, and did I mention Chile had a holiday weekend…so most hotels were already booked with Chilenos looking to party. Needless to say, it took us a very long time to find a place for the night, and there was lots of walking involved.

On the plus side, we went on a wine tour in Maipu… if you are planning on coming to the area, I suggest you stay there, because that´s where all the bodegas are.

We arrived semi-late to the wine tasting party, so we only had enough time to check out one bodega, the wine museum and an olive vineyard, where we got to sample several different types of olive spreads, chocolate and spirits. Great fun!
