Tonight is our last night in Thailand, and I can’t believe it. I’m going to miss it here, but I’m excited to spend the last days of our vacation in Bali. We arrived in Bangkok yesterday around 2:30 pm, and we booked a hotel at an airport kiosk. Our flight to Indonesia is at 6 am so we are leaving super early, so we don’t miss it… Again! (see previous post)

How we got here: plane ride from Krabi- 2,500 baht approx $81, then we took city rail from the airport to our hotel
Where we stayed: PJ Watergate Hotel- 1,700 baht a night, approx $55 which included free breakfast. It’s a small, older hotel near lots of shopping malls.
What we ate: Thai and Indian food near the hotel
Sightseeing: The Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha.
When we booked our hotel, the lady who helped us offered us a free tour.  A tour guide and a driver picked us up from our hotel at 1:30 pm.  They took us to the Grand Palace which is gorgeous! I loved it! The entrance fee was 500 baht, and Christian had to borrow pants because shorts are not acceptable attire. (You are not allowed to enter with shorts or tank tops.)
Our “free” tour was free, but we had a few unexpected stops before we were dropped off at our hotel. The guide explained that she had to take us to a jewelry store, a tailor and her travel agency so she could have a job tomorrow. The stops were short, so I didn’t mind, but it was kind of funny because we had to explain to a pushy salesperson that we didn’t want any custom-made clothes.
